I didn’t take any pictures….I saw the most “cool” thing. There was a young boy who didn’t want to go in the ocean.   His team met him where he was comfortable…the surfboard barely in the surf. They worked with using the surfboard as a prop.  They all put sand on the board.  As time went by….he went a little closer to the surf.  The sister came and talked to the little boy.  I guess my point is this is so cool.  The boy had an amazing time.  These volunteers recognized his comfort zone and met him there.  This was not my child.  My son was in the same heat. This is probably no big deal to you guys…..as a Mom this is awesome.  This was not my child.  I just wanted you guys to know how appreciated you all are.

I just wanted to share how amazingly successful SFA was this year.  The kids we worked with had BIG smiles and their families really enjoyed the event.  And Tommy met his goal to finally stand up on the board!  Trip called it an Air Craft Carrier of a board which was fitting.

Dear Eileen, I am sorry that I did not have the chance to meet you over the last few days but I know you and your team were very busy. All we can say, from the bottoms of our hearts, is thank you.  You, your team, and all of the volunteers made it such a special few days.  Today was the icing on the cake when Liam got to meet with and surf with his coaches. There aren’t words to say how much we appreciate all you and your team did.  We will never forget today.

We all had such an amazing time. This is Tristan Berry’s father. I helped some setting up Saturday morning  I just wanted to take a second and thank you so much for everything. We look forward to this every year and there is nothing more rewarding than getting to know all the families and children involved and not just rooting for my Tristan but for each and every child out there. So thank you from the bottom of my heart and I’m hoping that my youngest daughter and I can volunteer and help out more in the coming years. Thank you and hope you have a wonderful day.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! My family had a ball this year at SFA. My boys, [names removed] have been participating the past three years. [One] loves it every year and is always super excited about the event.  [The other] loves the beach and is happy just playing in the sand with his toys. We’ve tried twice before to get him on a surfboard in the water. He never wants to. Transition to non-preferred things has always been an issue. He surprised us this year. He had a later slot and fussed about leaving his toys to put on his life jacket.  I was ready for that! I told his team to try anyway. Let’s just go do it!  He picked out his surfboard,  but didn’t want to get on it. Timmy offered to carry [my son] on his back into the water. This worked.  [My son] got on the surfboard and surfed for the very first time. I had tears of joy just watching this magnificent sight. My son had such a huge smile on his face! He laughed, giggled and even tried to stand up out there on the waves. I can’t explain it. I just know that everything in my world at that moment was right. Timmy and Murphy you guys rocked it! I can’t remember his 3rd team members name, but I wanted to thank him as well. He was so patient and kind. All of them were. Please keep doing what you do SFA. These are life experiences we’ll always remember and treasure. Thank you, too everyone who helped make my children’s day so very special.
